At Sunset Oaks Farm, we provide pasture based, ethically raised and nutrient-dense meats and eggs for our family and the local community. Our livestock are moved to fresh grass every day or every few days depending on their prescribed rotational grazing plan designed to regenerate our soil. All livestock are growth hormone and steroid free and treated with the utmost respect as we strive to provide each animal the best life possible. We believe every life has meaning, and we do whatever it takes to help an animal thrive and prosper. As a veteran-owned and operated farm balanced on faith, family and service to community, we look forward to earning the opportunity to be your locally raised and grazed protein option!

What Makes Our Products Great?

At Sunset Oaks, it all starts with the soil – the foundation of our nutrient dense meat and eggs. Our holistic management practices emulate natural environmental cycles benefiting the environment. The soil feeds the grasses, the grasses feed our livestock, in turn, and the livestock feed the grasses and generate nutrient dense meat and eggs for our family and community. Each animal is given the freedom to act as they were intended to act. Cattle graze the fields, the pigs rout and wallow, and the chickens scratch and peck across our farm. A stark contrast to the industrial model. Our meat and eggs are better for you, come from humanely raised animals, better for the environment and better tasting than the products provided through the industrial food chain. By supporting our farm and pasture raised production systems, you are endorsing practices that seek to improve the land, as opposed to quarterly quotas and goals. Finally, when you purchase a product from Sunset Oaks Farm, you know exactly where that product is coming from – our name, address, and phone number are right on the package. We strive to take every possible step to ensure that healthy, clean, safe and delicious food is all you receive from Sunset Oaks Farm.

What makes us most proud of producing Genuine MS products?

Our proudest moments on the farm are when we receive a repeat customer. This simple act confirms our commitment to providing locally grown, nutrient dense meat and eggs to our community. A time-honored connection between eater and grower. Knowing our customer and their families strengthens our sense of community. In many cases, our farm provides our customers access to a piece of Mississippi where their children and grandchildren can go to learn about nature and agriculture.

How does buying Genuine MS products make a difference here in Mississippi?

Buying Genuine MS products supports local families. The wholesale prices that farmers/producers get for their products are routinely low, often near the cost of production. However, local producers who sell direct to consumers cut out the middleman and get full retail price for their products - an act which helps farm families stay on the land and small businesses stay on Main Street. The sale of Genuine MS products builds community. Specifically, when you buy direct from a farmer, you're engaging in a time-honored connection between customer and farmer. Knowing your farmer or producer provides the customer confidence in where products originated from. Finally, buying genuine MS products is an investment in the future. By supporting local farmers/producers today, you are helping to ensure that there will be farms and small businesses in our Mississippi communities tomorrow. A matter of importance for food and product securities, especially in light of an uncertain energy future and our current reliance on fossil fuels to produce, package, distribute and store food and products.

Why should people seek out and buy Genuine MS products?

In our experience providing local and nutrient dense meats and eggs, these products taste and look better. For example, livestock products are processed in nearby facilities and typically the producer has direct relationship with processors, overseeing quality - unlike animals processed in large industrial facilities. Second, local food is better for you. The shorter the time between the farm and a customer’s table, the less likely it is that nutrients will be lost from fresh food. Food imported from far away is older and has traveled on trucks or planes, and sat in warehouses before it gets to the end customer. For example at Sunset Oaks, eggs hand-gathered in the morning are available for the customer by the afternoon. A less than 8 hr. turn around. Finally, local food is safe. There's a unique kind of assurance that comes from looking a farmer in the eye at farmers' market or driving by the farmer’s fields where your food comes from. Local farmers aren't anonymous and take their responsibility to the consumer seriously.
