In January of 2016 my wife and I leased her family's 160 acre, 100 year old pecan orchard in the rich Mississippi Delta on the west bank of Moon Lake. Our operation has grown from harvesting pecans and selling to a wholesaler only to processing approximately 20 percent of our crop each year for the retail market. We sell to the general public and also sell at several area farmers markets during the year until we sell out. We truly enjoy meeting our neighbors at the markets and providing them with fresh pecans throughout the year and not just during the holiday season. Our grandchildren help when they can and this to me is the most important thing. Teaching them if you work then you get paid. .
