I am a native Mississippian. I grew up in the Mississippi Delta. As an adult, I joined the US Army and served 3 years and then relocated to Chicago IL., and became a firefighter with the Chicago Fire Department. Growing up as a sharecropper, farming has always been an interest of mine and familiar to me. The orchard was established, planned, and planted (improved varieties) in 1984. I purchased it in 1999. The orchard was overgrown with invasive grasses, cedars and pine trees, and a well that had been highly neglected. After a period of time, I got soil samples, leaf samples to determined what the trees needed. With fertilizing, watering, and a lot of TLC the orchard is flourishing. My first crop was 3 pecans. My second crop was about 500 pecans and now producing thousands of pecans. My goal is to produce good quality crop moving forward.
