Our farm started in 2018 with the idea of providing fresh produce, and culinary and medicinal herbs for our family. We grew it to the point where we had plenty to share with friends and family. What started as providing our family with healthy choices turned into a reality of making fresh produce locally grown produce available to our community. With a focus on training how to maximize profitability on your most valued resource (Land). We grow vegetables throughout the season which are available beginning in May with a large variety of produce throughout the summer and early Fall and finishing up with a variety of greens through December. We specialize in leafy greens of all varieties, lettuce, squash, and peppers. While we are not a certified organic farm, we are currently using the following water, soil, and land conservation methods: high tunnels with drip irrigation, plastic mulching, no harmful pesticides or herbicides, and pollinator habitat. We are currently working toward making our practices more sustainable every day. Colemans Farm believes that planting seeds in the earth will grow fresh vegetables, however, planting a seed in the minds of young people will create a new universe of scholars. Living every day to be an inspiration for change, James was just awarded the Veteran Small Business Owner for 2024, Chairman of the FSA LAA committee, and Commissioner Carroll County Soil and Water Conservation District in September 2024.

What Makes Our Products Great?

Our products are grown using naturally grown methods and locally. After 44+ years serving in the military James traded his combat gear for farm boots. He participates with the United States Department of Agriculture, Natural Resources Conservation Service, (NRCS) to ensure his farm is productive and environmentally friendly. while he also wants to use it as an educational tool for people not accustomed to new ways of Farming. Having students and others come train at the farm is valuable in improving access to healthy foods and how people look at making healthy options more available.
