We are Dekota Cheatham and Krissy Long, two certified teachers from Mississippi with a passion for storytelling and education. Together, we create and publish children’s books that capture the heart and spirit of rural Mississippi. Our books feature silly and relatable adventures of a chaos-causing poodle, a character loved by kids and inspired by real-life antics! We write with a mission to reflect the lived experiences of rural Mississippi children, ensuring they see themselves in the stories they read. Research–and our combined 16 years of teaching experience– shows us that children are more likely to read for fun when they connect with the content. Relatable books also improve comprehension, fostering lifelong learning and a love of reading. Our books combine heartwarming humor, vibrant illustrations, and real-life situations that resonate with rural communities. They are designed for the elementary child, but their charm appeals to parents and educators alike.
