There is nothing like fresh produce grown just down the road from your home. I remember as a little girl walking through my great grandfather’s garden and eating cherry tomatoes with him straight off the vine. Then going home and picking squash in our garden for mama to cook up for dinner that night. Stuffing my face with each fresh crisp bite planted a seed of love for fresh vegetables deep in my soul. I grew up thinking that all vegetables tasted that wonderful. Oh boy was I in for a rude awakening when I joined the Army. During my time in service, I was not able to have a decent garden nor was I always able to find a local farmer’s market. I knew when I finally planted my roots somewhere that I wanted to "plant more roots". I wanted people to be able to access affordable fresh vegetables. I wanted my children to love the food that is good for them. I wanted other parents to be able to get their children to love healthy foods too.
