Great American Cookbooks
Great American Publishers is a traditional small press. We publish books and cookbooks by various authors; we are not a vanity publisher nor do we produce print on demand books. Our publisher, Sheila Simmons, has 25 years’ experience in publishing and is supported by a staff with more than 25 years combined publishing experience. It is our goal to produce high-quality, user-friendly cookbooks containing easy-to-follow, delicious recipes for the everyday cook. The recipes come from mothers, grandmothers, hometown cooks and people who just love to cook, and our goal is to preserve these outstanding recipes for the next generation of cooks.
How does buying Genuine MS products make a difference here in Mississippi?
I have always been a firm believer in supporting the place where you live. After all you chose that place it did not choose you. There had to be something that drew you to the area and why would you not be interested in supporting the place where you spend most of your time. I’m a born-and-raised, been-here-all-my-life Mississippi girl and proud to stand for Mississippi’s strong heritage. I try to support the local farmers and local stores in my area whenever possible. Most everything I have ever owned has come from somewhere in Mississippi. From the cars I drive bought from local dealers, furniture from local furniture stores, and groceries from the stores located closest to me. After I had my two boys, Ryan and Nicholas, I was always the first to jump in and support the schools and sports in any way possible, from providing books and doing reading classes to the signs around the fields at the stadiums. They could always count on me. This is my way to get people to know a little more about Mississippi and support the state and appreciate it the same way I do. My son Ryan now works for Stennis Space Center and Nicholas runs his own farm operation where he grows corn, soybean and cotton.
